STAGE 3 STUDENTS ARE CITIZEN SCIENTISTS
In 2014, while Mrs. Rao was in the Kimberley helping the scientists, Stage 3 students undertook a biodiversity survey of the school grounds. They were supervised by the lovely Ms. McLeod and Geoff Shuetrim. Multi-talented Geoff - who also runs our school's Robotics Club - is also a keen naturalist and has developed a wonderful application Sydney Wildlife for the IPad which allowed the students to upload their sightings to the Atlas of Living Australia. This was truly citizen science in action - check out Geoff's beautiful photographs from the day below.
ADAPTATIONS
Our unit this term also included the investigation of animal and plant adaptations. Students investigated the structure of whale flippers and aerodynamics as well as producing presentations about some of the wonderful plants and animals that Mrs. rao was likely to encounter in the Kimberley.
